German SS Officer's Degen by Krebs. Chrome-plated metal pommel and guard with black painted wood grip. The wood bears two vertical cracks which do not significantly detract, SS runes at the center of the grip are fine, and the wire wrap is tight and bright. The oak leaf fitting at the bottom of the grip still remains clean and very detailed. The pommel nut has a ridged edge and is engraved 'P H' upon its upper flat surface. Straight blade signed by makers Krebs, Solingen with SS acceptance stamps on the underside of the guard and the top of the throat of the scabbard. Blade is excellent with virtually no pitting or corrosion evident. Lacks the original leather blade buffer which is easily replaced. Scabbard is black painted steel with Nordic knots, undented and with screws, the original paint 95% present. 37.75 x 5 in. overall, with scabbard. A fine example from a desirable maker.
