Description
Pair of admittance passes to the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg for the trials of the chief Nazi war crimes defendants. Both 4 x 2.5 in. passes belonged to Czech Col. Josef Novak and bear his signature at the bottom as well as that of a security officer. Pass 0077 was issued March 11, 1946 and bears Novak’s picture at the top right corner. Pass 3918 was issued Nov. 19, 1945. Each pass shows some chipping at the edges, else fine; WITH Novak's military entry permit, 6pp. 4 in. x 5 in., which allowed him to travel through Germany as a member of the Czechoslovak delegation for the trials. This permit, signed by Novak on the first page at the bottom, was issued by military permit officer Frank Z. Kovach on Dec. 21, 1945 and was valid until Oct. 30, 1946. Light spotting throughout, else fine; WITH a Visitor’s Gallery pass for the 'Final Judgement', session 4, seat 88, 4.75 in. x 3.75 in., signed by Novak on the verso. Light spotting. Some folds with light creasing around the edges, else very good; WITH a pass, 4.25 in. x 2.5 in., granting Novak privileges to the dining area at the 'Grand Hotel Nuremberg', issued on Dec. 5, 1945 by an accommodations officer, signed by Novak at bottom right. Five pieces. Overall, fine.
