Black border and print. Allegorical and steam locomotive vignettes. Printed by Bancroft & Co. Heavy folds, creases, discoloration. Hallahan had his hand in mining in Nevada, California and Colorado. Keiser was a Truckee, California resident. He was in California at Yankee Jims by 1858.The Nellie Grant was in the news in 1874, but seems to disappear after that. On April 30th a Truckee assayer gave some samples as $500 to the ton. The Peavine Mining District is north of Verdi. Peavine Mining District was organized in 1863 in Washoe County. It is centered around Peavine Peak. A January 6, 1875 Truckee Republican article describes the district in detail (included). The biggest prospect is the Consolidated Poe, and a mining camp has sprung up named Poe City (Poeville). Other claims include the Nellie Grant, etc. 300 men are employed. Businesses include a store, livery, and three hotels.
