A stunning bronze sculpture of two lovers by American artist Jon Zahourek. Zahourek rendered the amorous couple swooning in ecstasy with intertwined bodies, exuding intimacy and sensuality. This powerful composition is modeled in high relief with some areas almost fully in the round. In addition to this tintillating theme, Zahourek's artistry and passion for his process is palpable. Zahourek himself has described his creative method as somewhat organic and dissociative. In his words, "Paintings and drawings and sculpture were all a surprise. In the 1960s, Jon Zahourek dropped out of college to become an artist. By way of Taos, New Mexico and later Denver, Colorado Zahourek was part of a thriving community of artists, exhibiting his work with prominent contemporaries including Ned Jacobs, Buffalo Kaplinski, George Carlson, and Fritz White. In the 1970s, Zahourek moved to New York to teach painting. He continued as an artist and educator, and eventually fueled his passion for anatomy into developing a system for teaching anatomy which has been used by more than 6,000 classrooms across the United States.

Signed and numbered behind the man's head. Overall near choice with slight surface wear. Attached to a white metal bordered mount. Minor scuffs to the white metal; otherwise this border is in very nice condition and adds wonderful visual interest to the piece.
