Iosif Joseph Chaikov or Tchaikov, Russian Soviet, 1888 to 1979, charcoal and ink painting on paper, Kyiv. Circa: 1918 to 1919. Unsigned. Provenance: The painting comes from the collection of Viktor Kholodkov, 1948 to 2015, who fulfilled his passion for books, avant grade design and paper memorabilia by devoting his life to collecting and dealing of prominent works of Russian graphic art of the first half of the 20th century. Iosiff Chaikov was a well known Russian Soviet Social Realist sculptor and pedagogue of Jewish origin. Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR, professor. Chaikovs monumental and decorative works are marked by compositional dynamics. The most famous is his composition Footballers. In 1912, Chaikov, together with a group of young artists, founded the Mahmadim group of Jewish artists; the group published a magazine in Hebrew under the same name. One of a kind artwork.
