Set 4 Ado Chale Articulated Back Belgian Wood Chairs, 28.5 x 17.25 x 17.25 inches, seat height 19 inches, unsigned. Mid century Modern avant garde Brutalist with a with a De Stijl and or Rietveld influence. Note that another set of 6 sold at auction reported on artnet for thousands of dollars. Provenance: Moving sale by auction of a central Florida Belgian diamond dealer retiring to the south of France. Also sold at the collection dispersal that we attended was a Chale 9 leg Drop of Water aluminum coffee table with an authentication letter from Chale that sold in the USD 30,000 range to a European buyer. We spoke with the owner prior to the sale while our staff served as an art consultant on a few paintings in the sale and he said these were Chale as well but that he did not have a letter from Chale for them and when they sold inexpensively we purchased them. At the sale these were sold as leather but we cannot determine if these are leather or synthetic. As unsigned, without a letter and of uncertain upholstery we are offering them as maker unverified however they look the same as ones we found online and they have the distinctive slightly reclining top rail.
