Roman Empire, Gordian III, ca. 238 to 244 CE. AR Denarius. Rome Mint 241 CE. Obverse: Obverse: Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, from behind. Reverse: Salus standing right, feeding snake held in both hands. References: RIC 129a, RSC 325. The coin is inlaid into a modern 16K+ gold setting that allows it to be worn as a pendant, with both sides displayed. Size: 0.95" W x 1.3" H (2.4 cm x 3.3 cm); gold quality: 16K; total weight: 8.9 grams
