Description
Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court (1856-1941) from 1916 to 1939, remembered as the first Jewish person to serve on the Court. Early ALS signed “Warren & Brandeis,” one page, 5.75 x 9.25, Warren & Brandeis, Counsellors at Law letterhead, May 14, 1884. Early in his law career, Justice Brandeis wrote this handwritten letter to W. L. Putnam about legal matters, in part: “The documents to which Mr. Stetson refers are N.B. Statutesâ€Â¦The records of the Suit in N.B. for foreclosure of the West Ext. Mortgageâ€Â¦The documents were filed with Mr. Davis as evidence last Friday, and a list of them given to Mr. Davis & to Mr. Stetson. Have the x Ints. for Kay’s deposition verified." Signed at the conclusion by Brandeis in behalf of his company. In very good to fine condition, with creasing and toning along the top edge.
