Signed book: The Spirit of St. Louis. Later printing. NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1953. Hardcover with dust jacket, 6 x 8.5, 562 pages. Signed and inscribed on the title page in black ink, "To L. Gordon Cooper, with best wishes, Charles A. Lindbergh." In fine condition, with scattered small areas of surface loss to the dust jacket. A desirable association piece between two legends of aviation.
Lindbergh and Cooper were also fellow members of the 'Quiet Birdmen,’ a secretive club for male aviators founded by a group of WWI airmen. The organization meets in various locations never announced to the public, and members are accepted by invitation only. The group has counted other notable flyers like Buzz Aldrin, Richard E. Byrd, Jimmy Doolittle, Eddie Rickenbacker, Wally Schirra, and Igor Sikorsky.
