PURVIS YOUNG OUTSIDER ARTIST ORIGINAL OIL ON BOARD Purvis Young (American, 1943-2010), oil on board. Miami outsider artist Purvis Young is featured in the Rubell Family Collection in Miami as well as the Bass Museum in Miami, the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, the High Museum in Atlanta, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among many other places. A self-taught, or outsider artist from Miami's Overtown neighborhood, Young was a staple at the Art Basel festival until his death in 2010. Young featured an impressionistic, calligraphic style and was influenced by Rembrandt, El Greco, van Gogh and Delacroix. This piece was purchased in Miami by the consignor directly from young in the mid-1990's. Size: 26 x 31" (if framed, measurement includes frame) Est. $ 800-1200 Lot 31092
