Robert H. Kellogg, Life and Death in Rebel Prisons, Hartford, L. Stebbins, 1866. A rare document of civil war history. A fine copy, bound in brown cloth with gilt details, illustrations throughout. Contains a certificate undersigned by prisoners of Andersonville attesting to the truth of Kelloggs account of conditions there, a notice by the publisher seeking agents to help distribute the book, and a plate depicting the capture of Jefferson Davis (who attempted escape disguised in a dress!) Measures 5” X 7 ½” X 1 ¼”.
Condition
Fine condition, minor wear to edges of spine, minor foxing to inside covers and early pages, text is bright and clear throughout.
