Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 100 BCE. A collection of 40 hand carved stone beads, each pecked and polished by ancient hands, and the centers biconically drilled for suspension. These are all strung on a modern cord graduating from smallest along to several substantial beads and a hefty central pendant. While strung as a necklace, these stones could easily be restrung as one desired as individual pendants or accent beads. Size (strand doubled): 30" L (76.2 cm); (largest bead): 1.5" Diameter x 1" W (3.8 cm x 2.5 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s
