Description
3rd-1st century B.C. A group of two terracotta figure fragments comprising: the lower portion of a human face, encompassing part of the neck, chin, right cheek and full lips; a bovine head modelled with stylised features, large circular eyes, small circular nostrils and exaggerated circular mouth which forms a cylindrical piercing through the whole, possibly used as a spout; each mounted on a custom-made display stand. 274 grams total, 57-120 mm including stands (2 5/8 - 4 3/4 in.). Sotheby's 12 August 1978, lot 444 (part). Ex Mohamed Makriya collection. The face with part lot ticket '53/5' to the underside. [No Reserve]
