3rd-1st century B.C. A terracotta mask modelled as a grotesque male face with exaggerated bushy eyebrows above beady eyes, bulbous nose, broad and grimacing mouth baring teeth, gremlin-like ears, chiselled jaw and muscular neck; mounted on a custom-made display stand. 72 grams total, 95 mm including stand (3 3/4 in.). Sotheby's 12 August 1978, lot 444 (part). Ex Mohamed Makriya collection. With old inked inscription 'GREEK' to verso. [No Reserve]
