8th-7th century B.C. A bronze zoomorphic horse bit composed of a rectangular-section mouthpiece with coiled terminals and two cheek-pieces formed as stylised horses, each with simple anatomical detailing to the outer face, loop to neck and rump, standing on a ground line. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, accession numbers 57.51.40a-c, 56.131.2 and 32.161.24, for similar. 434 grams, 19.5 cm wide (7 5/8 in.). Acquired 1980s-1990s. Collection of M.
