16th century A.D. A silver or tin-plated copper-alloy spoon composed of a tapering stem with irregular hexagonal cross-section, balustered terminal with discoid seal top and oval-shaped bowl stamped with a fleur-de-lys maker's mark. Cf. Homer, R.F., Five Centuries of Base metal Spoons, UK, 1975, p.38. Portable Antiquities Scheme report number DENO-06BA66. 40 grams, 15.7 cm (6 1/8 in.). Found near Granby, Nottinghamshire, UK, by Ken Burrell whilst searching with a metal detector on Saturday 1st November 2016. Accompanied by a copy of the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme report number DENO-06BA66. [No Reserve]
