Painted with names of Team Members, commemorating a bump for Third Trinity, Emmanuel and Trinity Hall Cambridge under Coach C.B. Close, Esq. and Coxwain W. Dyson, Head of the River, June, 1898. The fabled days of Yank B.N. Howell rowing for Cambridge. 147" (12'-3"), 5 3/4" wide blade, portion missing but all text legible, list of rowers. A 1905 article mentions: "First Trinity have been coached by Mr. J.B. Close, their long run ended at the Head of the River in 1898".
