Original Oil on canvas by Beverly Grantham Derrick (Charleston SC, 20th century), signed LL "B. Derrick". Depicting a woman walking with laundry. In frame measures 24"x20"x2". Weight 4 pds. Exhibiting 1985 through 1989 in South Carolina and American Watercolor Society shows winning Best in Show in 1987, Derrick has work in corporate collections such as Emory University, North Carolina National Bank, South Carolina State Collection, Chevron Corporation, and Colonial Life, including portraits of US Senators Strom Thurmond and Claude Pepper. She has studied around the country with artists/instructors such as Henry Caselli, Judy Betts, Alex Powers, Christopher Schink, Betty Edwards and Burton Silverman. PROVENANCE: 25 East Battery, Charleston SC. The Charles H. Drayton House, built between 1883-1886. Cited by architectural historians as one of the finest examples of Eastlake Victorian architecture in South Carolina.
