Description
Pair of 18th century Italian wood angels, losses.
One angel is 30 inches high, the other angel is 29 inches high, both bases are 3 inches high.Total height on the first is 33 inches, the second 32 inches high.
Davids Notes: A wonderful pair of hand-carved angels from the mid-eighteenth century. Most likely carved and placed in a church or niche because the back is rough-finished. The backs are unpainted for the most part except for traces of a dark black color that is darker than most of the paint on the front. The faces and front sections appear to have most of the original paint but there are numerous chips, nicks, and wood losses to the arms, hands, and on on angel, both of the feet. Pairs like this are rare and highly sought after.
