It is rare to come across a prop for sale that is as instantly recognizable as this one. For anyone who saw the classic original 1990 “Total Recall”, the image of Schwarzenegger’s head almost exploding after being suddenly hurled out into Mar’s deadly atmosphere is forever ingrained in our minds! Director Paul Verhoeven (“RoboCop”, “Starship Troopers”, “Hollow Man”), purposely used as many actual “floor effects” and appliances as possible in this movie to create a sense of uber-reality. This mechanical “life mask” of a “bug-eyed” Schwarzenegger in the throes of “blowing his mind” is made from soft silicone, with protruding bloodshot eyes and hand-punched hair and eyebrows. The appliance is still very pliable, and is attached to a Styrofoam/wooden base for display. Also included are the non-functioning cables & wires used to make this incredibly realistic head continue to throb and “scream”. This FX head was created by Oscar winner, Rob Bottin (The Howling, The Thing, Fight Club) and it is very rare, if ever, that Bottin pieces ever are made available to fans.
