American Art Union, mid-19th century, group of two bronze medals in cases, struck by the United States Mint, depicting the artists Gilbert Stuart (American 1755-1828), 1848, engraver Charles Cushing Wright (American 1796-1854), draftsman Salathiel Ellis (American 1803-1879), and John Trumbull (American 1756-1843), designer Paul Peter Duggan (American c. 1800-1861), engraver Charles Cushing Wright (American 1796-1854), all appropriately marked. Note: These medals are part of a series of three medals issued by the American Art League. The other painter honored was Washington Allston (American 1779-1843). Two-hundred and fifty medals were issued. Approx. dia. 2.5".

Wear to cases, both with minor casting imperfections to edge of medals.
