Description
1905, USA: This Symphonion Orchestrion style 118 plays 70cm (27 - 1/2") disc across 118 musical notes and 12 saucer bells. Symphonion marketed these large music boxes as especially suitable for large rooms. From their 1901 advertising flyer: "The 118 extra broad tongues in connection with the 12 metal bells produce an exceedingly powerful, far reaching and penetrating sound.". All enclosed in a beautiful quartered oak cabinet with applied carvings, turned columns and latticed door, making the Symphonion style 118 one of the most strikingly gorgeous music boxes produced. CONSIDERATIONS: The case shows little wear, except some light surface scratches where the door opens and closes. The mechanics work perfectly, the coin operated mechanism works smoothly, and the instrument comes with 15 discs. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Excellent). Dimensions: 42" x 23 - 1/2" x 96".
