1925, GERMANY: Hugo Popper, co-founder of Popper and Co., Was a leading figure in the Leipzig music industry at the turn of the century. An innovator and visionary, Hugo Popper built a great musical instrument company, closely related to both Weber and Hupfeld in securing Leipzig as the musical capital of that era. This instrument is a Popper #20 orchestrion. Piano with mandolin and an original added percussion cabinet to the top. Oak constructed cabinet, with applied trim and a front panel to the bass drum has 3 painted figures and the wording, "Happy-Jazzband". CONSIDERATIONS: The oak case shows little wear and the instrument was restored about 15 years ago by Horst King. Playing very nicely with the correct jazz band and ragtime rolls, a great instrument for a more energetic sound. Includes 51 music rolls. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 54 - 1/4" x 29 - 1/2" x 101".
