Description
Set of Six French Henri II Style Oak Dining Chairs, c. 1880, with a lion carved spindled crest rail over a reeded horizontal splat, above a trapezoidal caned seat, on turned tapered legs joined by rectangular stretchers, H.- 36 1/4 in., W.- 17 in., D.- 15 3/4 in.
Condition
On two examples, the caning is sagging. One is from a crack along the rail where the caning is anchored, and the other has a few frayed pieces of cane. Otherwise, nothing to report on other examples. Note: As photographed, this set is 5+1. Five have the squared lion finials at the top of the seatbacks, and one has rounded finials.
