1789 mezzotint engraved by John Raphael Smith, (1752-1812) after a painting by Joseph Wright (1734-1797.) Inscription: The Widow of an Indian Chief watching the Arms of her deceas'd Husband". At lower left: "Painted by J. Wright", at lower right: "Engrav'd by J. R. Smith, Mezzotint Engraver to his Royal Highn's the Prince of Wales and his Serene Highn's the Duke of Orleans." Margins trimmed, mounted to modern heavy paper. Approx. 21 1/2" x 17 3/4". Provenance: a private Northern Virginia collection.
