Engraved exlibris of “Society of writers to his majesty’s signet”. Size: 8 x 7.2 cm. (3.1 x 2.8 inches)
Half leather, hard cover marmoreal board, 26.8 x 19 cm. (10.5 x 7.4 inches)
Condition: Some wear and rubbing to cover; worm holes to spine and near edges throughout the book; some foxing to endpapers, to the field of engraved portrait, facsimile and pages to both side of facsimile; some soiling to title page and blank leaves

Comments: Worked in NYC 1857-58. Elected mayor of Hoboken (N.J.) in 1876. Served as chief engraver in the U.S. Treasury Department in Wash., DC (under President Grover Cleveland), 1887 to at least 1892.
