A GEORGE III SET OF THREE SILVER GRADUATED OVAL MEAT PLATESPAUL STORR, LONDON 1811 With gadroon and shell rims, engraved with a coat of Arms and motto GOD BE MY GUIDE, numbered 744, 745, 74856.5cm, 49.5cm and 43.5cm8399g (approximately 270 oz)The armorial is that of Richard BUTLER (1775-1819), 10th Baron Cahir or Caher, of Caher Castle co. Tipperary, who was later (in 1816) created Viscount Cahir and Earl of Glengall, all in the Irish Peerage. He was the son of James BUTLER (died 1788), 9th Baron Cahir, by Sarah NICHOLS and in 1793 married Emily JEFFERYES. After the Act of Union in 1801 he served in the English House of Lords as one of the 28 Irish representatives peers. The blazon:quarterly of four - 1,4: subquarterly - one: argent, a cross calvary gules thereon a representation of our Saviour or (borne in memory of the family having fought against the infidels). two: or a chief indented azure. three: gules, three covered cups or (Butler). four: ermine, a saltier gules (FitzGerald of Desmond). A bordure ermine. 2: per pale indented or and gules. 3: argent, an eagle with two heads displayed azure between three crosses flory gules. Supporters: Dexter - a falcon argent beaked and membered or.
