Imperial Byzantine Coat of Arms of His Serene Highness by greenwich village artist and poet, Prince Robert de Rohan Courtenay. Signed in artist's hand on recto [Robert de Rohan Courtenay], signed and titled in artist's hand on verso [Imperial Byzantine Coat of Arms of His Serene Highness Prince Robert de Rohan Courtenay], dated [89].
Prince Robert de Rohan Courtenay claimed to be the "Grand Master, Grand Chancellor, Grand Bailiff, and Grand Prior of the Knights of Malta" and would grant knighthood to those that paid him from his apartment at 116 Central Park South. Courtenay disappeared after being indicted for wire fraud in 2001.
