The verso has a cut out shallow cavity for the wearer to mount this mask to their forehead via ropes and nails - the dancer would bend over to show the face of the mask to onlookers. The wood is painted and incised with linear triangular and checkered patterns in black and white and the horn like crest represents the spirit of a protective bush animal. Size: 23.5" L x 8" W (59.7 cm x 20.3 cm); 25" H (63.5 cm) on included custom stand.
