Description
American Revolution
18th Century Revolutionary War Era Use European Continental Small Sword with Its Scarce Shagreen Scabbard
18th Century French and Indian War to Revolutionary War Era Use, Continental European Small Sword with its Shagreen Scabbard, Very Fine.
A pleasing European Small Sword measures 29" overall, that has a 22.25" double-edge blade. The blade may actually be much older and then refitted for reuse, having three early unidentified armorer's marks on both sides of the blade. Brass hilt / guard, carved spiral / twisted wood with flat wire grip, . Scabbard is brass mounted and covered in rare shagreen (Sting Ray Skin). It is our opinion that the Scabbard is indeed of the period, likely was taken from a different sword that fits so has been married for use with this current sword.
