Maker "P. BOND" London Cased Set of Important English Flintlock Officer's Dueling Pistols with Original Trade Label
c. 1794-1816 Federal Period to War of 1812 Era, Set of English Flintlock Officers Dueling Pistols, Made by "P. BOND, London" with their Wooden Case with Original Trade Label, Extremely Fine.
Choice Set of English Flintlock Officer's Dueling Pistols, each measuring 14.75" overall length. Each have a 9", .65 caliber (Carbine Bore) original fading brown finished steel round barrels. Each having the Maker's Name and Address Engraved on the top near breech: "P. BOND, 45 CORNHILL - LONDON"; each barrel struck on the left side of breech with a "CROWN" over "GP" within an oval (Gun Maker's PROOF), a "CROWN" over "V" (viewed) and a "CROWN" over "PB" (Philip Bond). Choice Engraved Locks with sliding safety's and marked (engraved): "P. BOND". These Pistols are housed in a 17.5" x 8.5" original period English Wooden Box with repaired / restored interior with period correct English green baise. Original Trade Label present reading: "BY HIS MAJESTY'S ROYAL LETTERS PATENT, WATER PROOF GUN LOCK, MORE CERTAIN & QUICKER FIRE, JOSH EGG. GUN MAKER, Corner of Piccadilly Street. HAYMARKET". Choice original White natural material lid pull knobs. Original key to the lock is present. Accessories Include; 3-way flask, bullet mold, cleaning rod w/built in turn screw, flints, balls, patches and tow. Their Stocks are solid with one Pistol with a fine break at the wrist that was mended contemporarily during its period of use. Originally, these Pistols were entirely silver mounted, and for what ever reason, the silver has been removed and replaced. Their iron ram rod pipes retain about 40% blue, each with period replacements German Silver trigger guards and Butt Caps depicting a Lion's Face. Original Silver Shield shaped wrist escutcheons. The locks are exceptionally nice being in 99% near mint condition on the interior, with original vibrant fire blue on their parts. Overall, a choice Pair of English Flintlock Officers Dueling Pistols that are in good mechanical working order.
