An Archaistic Yellow Jade Animal-Form Vessel (Zun), Qing Dynasty(private English collection)
modelled after a Shang dynasty bronze ritual wine vessel form, the zun shows a snail-like animal, the vessel of rectangular shape in body, supported by an oval shaped foot, the head of the animal finely carved with facial detail incised in imitation of Shang dynasty style, an openwork dragon attached to the body to form a handle, the cover of the vessel is topped with a leopard like finial, the vessel decorated by guaizi long mask (meandering dragon), the stone of even yellow tone with russe inclusions
Provenance: private English collection, originally acquired from Netherland
