A George I walnut and featherbanded bureau cabinet
1715-1720, the double domed top with a moulded cornice, above a pair of later mirror inset doors, enclosing two adjustable shelves, over a hinged fall enclosing ten drawers, six pigeon holes and three ink well compartments each with a sliding top, with two short and two long drawers below, on later bun feet, 97cm wide x 64cm deep x 201cm high, (38in wide x 25in deep x 79in high)

Condition
Shrinkage splits to the cornice mouldings.
A couple of small surface repairs consistent with age.
Apparent minor repairs and replacements to some segments of mouldings.
Shrinkage split to lower part of the left end on the bureau section.
The doors inset with later mirror glass.
The two end handles to the bureau section possibly re-located lower down.
Some minor repairs, hairline shrinkage, nicks and blemishes to surfaces commensurate with age.

The mounts probably later but nonetheless they appear to have some good age and seem appropriate for the period of the piece.
Old ink stains to the interior of the hinged fall.
Bun feet possibly not original but these appear to have good age also.
Some very limited signs of old worm, mainly visible to a couple of the feet.
Attractive colour and finish overall.
In good decorative, firm and ready to use order.
