A Louis XV carved giltwood marginal mirror
Circa 1755, with moulded and foliate adorned surrounds carved with acanthus leaves, C-scrolls, rocaille, flowers and scrolled foliage, surmounted by two opposing rocaille carved C-scrolls centred with a tasselled ribbon-tied musical trophy, re-gilt, approximately: 139cm high x 88cm wide.

The offered lot was officially assessed as being circa 1755 by Renard et Fils Antiquaires, Beaulieu-Sur-Mer, 31 August 2001. A copy of this paperwork is available for inspection upon request.
A comparable French mirror to the present model, which is actually dated circa 1750, features in G. Child, World Mirrors, 1650-1900, 1990, New York, fig. 359, p. 194.
