Plaster George Washington Bust PP Caproni Houdon Style. White Plaster Bust of George Washington on an integral turned socle, with Washington depicted wearing Roman dress - a charming anachronism. What appears to be a white surface wash is worn in many places, giving an appropriate feeling of antiquity. Oval insignia toward bottom of rear appears to be a version of the mark used by Pietro Paulo Caproni (1862-1928) of PP Caproni & Brother, known for their plaster reproductions from a life mask of Washington himself, taken by Jean-Antoine Houdon (1741-1828).

Dimensions are 29 in h x 19.5 in w x 11 in d. Condition is fair, with significant surface wear and some chipping throughout. Please call or email for a detailed condition report.
