A CULTURED PEARL NECKLACE WITH AN ART DECO DIAMOND CLASP, CIRCA 1920, AND AN ART DECO BROOCHThe two-rows of graduated cultured pearls measuring approximately 3.65 - 8.00mm to a rectangular clasp set with a triangular and calibré-cut diamond forming a triangular motif within a surround of old brilliant-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum and gold, French assay marks, indistinct maker’s mark, numbered, length 43.5cm; The brooch set with a cultured mabé pearl of bluish-purple tint, within a pierced geometric surround set with old brilliant and rose-cut diamonds, with baguette and step-cut paste highlights, mounted in platinum and gold, length 5.3cm
Condition
Necklace - pearls: One row with yellow overtones, the other row whiter with more silver overtones. Medium lustre. Both with some minor blemishes. Knots frayed and may benefit from restringing. Likely previously a three-row necklace.
French eagle’s head and dog’s head assay marks for French platinum and French gold. Two indistinct/rubbed maker’s marks. Numbered - possibly 3244. Clasp secure. Surface wear. Total gross weight approx. 33g
Brooch - Paste stones with chips, likely replacements. Two small rose-cut diamonds deficient. Some re-set
Cultured mabé pearl later / setting repaired to reverse. Skin with wrinkles and orange-peel effect, scratches, etc. Iridescent effect
