The painting is on an cradled panel. The panel is composed of two planks which have worked apart so there is a visible horizontal split running across the composition approx. 1/3 from the top of the composition and with minor losses. There is minor frame abrasion along the edges. The upper panel has an uneven surface with likely older fill. Minor surface abrasions in areas but particularly noticeable in the bunch of grapes in the lower left. There is an approx. 4 in surface scratch in the foliage upper right. Under UV light; there is an opaque varnish that remains over the surface making UV detection difficult but further retouch cannot be ruled out. There is evidence of minor retouch to the frame abrasion lower left.
