Description
Two sauce boats, with scene “Landing of General Lafayette at Castle Garden New York, 16 August 1824”. Stamped on base Staffordshire, Clews, Warranted. Made by James and Ralph Clews, England, ca. 1825-1830. one with lid, ladle and underplate, 5.5”H x 8.5”W underplate. Other open top example, with underplate, 4”H x 9.75”L underplate.
Condition
open top example, two handle lobes chipped, some glaze loss to three areas on edge of under plate, other with chip to under plate.
