French Louis Philippe Carved Walnut Slant Front Desk, 19th c., the rectangular top over a slant lid opening to a gilt tooled black leather writing surface and an interior fitted with six drawers and five open shelves, over two fielded panel cupboard doors, on a plinth base with a drawer, on block feet, H.- 35 1/4 in., W.- 38 1/2 in., D.- 20 in.

Condition consistent with age and use. Would benefit from a good cleaning and some light restoration. Small loss to leather but is not peeling. Old repairs are visible, but they are well done. There is a gap between boards on the desk interior. Old pest damage visible on top and near base, and on sides. Drawers are working smoothly. Shrinkage cracks present on proper right side. Key is present and lock mechanism in doors work, however the wood is worn and renders the lock post not functional.
