Mabuchi Toru (Japanese, 1920-1994), "Black Vessel" (Kuroi utsuwa) 1959, woodblock, depicting a tall black vessel and pears on a table with other fruit, signed and artist chop. Glued to mat. Framed (not glazed). Size: 10'' x 22'', 25 x 56 cm (sight); 20.5'' x 32'', 52 x 81 cm (frame). Together with Kaoru Kawano (Japanese, 1916-1965) "Dancing Figure," woodblock, signed, titled and numbered: 108/300. Framed. Size: 22'' x 14.75'', 56 x 37 cm (sight); 26.5'' x 19'', 67 x 48 cm (frame). Provenance: Sylvia and Philip Chaplain Collection, New Hampshire.
