Rare Chinese mid-19th Century Fishing Village; Oil on Canvas on stretcher with a town in the distance, House Boat, a man with unusual fishing net and man returning in boat with traps to small houses, a waiting lady & children; framed in an18th Century re-sized carved and gilt wood Italian Frame. Height of art 12 3/4 inches (32 cm.) X width of art 16 inches (40.5 cm.). NOTE: Western style Oil on Canvas painting is believed to have been taught to Chinese Artists in Macao in the early 19th Century by artists like George Chinnery and spread to Canton creating a brief and consequently rare and unique fusion of Chinese Art and Western Academic esthetics.
Condition
Light age related wear to edges with minor flakes, with typical aged craquelure to surface; frame with cracks and repairs.
