2 Vintage Cecil Beaton (1904-1980) Gelatin Silver Print Photographs in archival mats: "Brigit Patmore," London, 1927; together with "Carmel Snow in Conde Nast's Apartment," New York, 1928; each mounted by Beaton to boards and signed in watercolor & brush, the reverse with biographical information, the Carmel Snow with a 1951 appreciation by Diana Vreeland, "The best glands in the world. Terrific early morning clarity" Height of Carmel Snow image 12 1/2 inches (31.7 cm.) X width of image 10 1/2 inches (26.5 cm.). Brigit Patmore image height 8 1/4 inches (21 cm.) X width 6 inches (15.2 cm.). PROVENANCE: The Brigit Patmore image from the collection of Miriam J Benkowitz (Benkovitz) - Skidmore Faculty, biographer/editor of Firbanks, Aldington, etc. The Carmel Snow image from the collection of Nancy White, her Niece who also became Harper's Bazaar Editor. NOTES: Brigit Patmore was an English Author and London Society hostess. Beaton was still using a No 3A Folding Pocket Kodak Camera, Daylight and Mirror light. Conde Nast's penthouse at 1040 Park Avenue at 86th Street was flodded with light.
