Ca. mid 20thC. Very good with no chips, cracks or repairs. Traditioinal Hopi Tewa potter Sarah Collateta was born in 1921 and passed in 2004. Her granddaughter is award winning potter Kathleen Collateta Sandia, who says that she learned the art of pottery from her grandmother Sarah as a teenager. Sarah taught her granddaughter in the traditional way; how to hand coil natural clay, how to create paint from natural pigments and how to paint the intricacies of the ancient designs. This original Sarah pot shows all of those skills utilized well.
