The substantial sculpture of contemporary subject matter is cast from powdered glass in something of a lost-wax technique also known as pate de verre, which was first practiced by by ancient Greeks before a revival in the 19th century, and then popularized again in the middle 20th century by French makers like Daum Nancy. Some artists have continued to practice this technique, including Lucy Lyon.
This work, signed by Lucy Lyon on the base is dated '12 for 2012.
Measures 17 x 4 x 16.5 inches.
