Paul Philippe was a French Polish sculptor and painter who created bronze and chryselephantine sculptures in both Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. Born in 1870 in Thorn, Poland, Philippe moved to France around 1900 to study under Antonin Larroux at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. After finishing school, he developed his hallmark aesthetic of exotic women in theatrical poses. The artist's work was widely appreciated before his mysterious death in 1930 at an undetermined location in France. Today, his work can be found in the collection of the Art Deco Museum in Moscow.
