Description
Leitz Wetzlar "£"-Montagesiegel.
Dabei: Vorderdeckel, Bereitschaftstasche.
Literatur: James L. Lager, "Leica, an illustrated History", Vol. I (cameras), S. 182.
Leica M3 from the series 1135001 - 1135100, which were officially engraved with an asterisk (*) behind the serial number. Apparently, in this case this is not an indication for duplicated serial numbers - the M3s with these numbers were shipped exclusively with the "asterisk" engraving. Presumably, these 100 cameras were initially withheld, when the end of production of the M3 was foreseeable, so that at later times could still be resorted to this stock. The delivery took place predominantly only from November 1968, partly even up to the year 1973.
In nice original condition with Summicron 50 mm f/2 Nr. 2279696 with slight haze. Leitz Wetzlar "£" assembly seal.
Included: Front cap, everready case.
Literature: James L. Lager, "Leica, an Illustrated History", Vol. I (cameras), p. 182.
Serial Number: 1135023*
Production Year: 1968
