Description
Egypt, Late Roman / Coptic Period, ca. 3rd to 5th centuries CE. A hand-carved anthropomorphic idol with a square head, short limbs, and torso marked by incised lines, made from a bone of a livestock or ungulate animal. The surface of the piece is smoothed with an umber-brown patina, as if it was often touched by its owner. Comes in a modern display case. Size: 1.1" L x 2.55" W (2.8 cm x 6.5 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Small loss to one foot and surface nicks. Remains of adhesive residue on verso from previous display mounting. Old accession number handwritten on top of head. Nice patina throughout.
