In 1830, based at the Strada del Corso in Rome, Antonio Civilotti established himself as a fine goldsmith of Renaissance revival pieces. Noted also for their production of hardstone portraits, his firm moved in 1857 to Via dei Canestrari, where his successful career continued until 1870.

Brooch with a detachable pendant fitting which slides on to the brooch pin and attaches to top section. Glazed locket compartment to the reverse. Some small areas of tarnish commensurate with age. A few tesserae deficient, mostly from the blue surround of the symbols at cardinal points. Pendant loop starting to come open slightly, currently secure but may need attention at some point in the future. Earrings similar condition. All with Italian control mark for gold fineness 750-833. Generally good condition for age. Case hinge dilapidated and exterior a little worn.
