Under UV light, there are the strokes of a heavier varnish that fluoresces especially around both horses bodies. There is possible in-painting to the belly of the horse on the right. The canvas is slightly loose on the stretcher. Surface dirt, scuffs, scratches and small indentations to the surface of canvas. There is a small tear in the lower left quadrant that has been patched from the reverse. The tear measures approximately 1 3/4". There is a larger almost thru-puncture to the upper right quadrant of the canvas measuring approximately 2 1/2" on the rear of the lighter brown horse.
