Wenceslaus Hollar (Bohemian, 1607-1677) Wenceslaus Hollar (Bohemian, 1607-1677) 'Ornatus muliebris Anglicanus, or The Severall Habits of English Women from the Nobilitie, to the country woman, as they are in these times' five etchings, each signed and dated 1639 or 1640 in the plate 13.2 x 7cm and similar; together with four etchings After Wenceslaus Hollar from 'Theatrum Mulierum', printed c.1890s 9.5 x 6cm and similar, two unframed (9) 'Ornatus muliebris Anglicanus' prints were reproduced until the nineteenth century. According to Pennington, the different states are not clearly attributable to any particular issue (Pennington, p.292). However, this appears to be an earlier edition, possibly printed by Sayer c.1755-1794. Condition Report: Largest framed size: 28 x 24cm.
